Official State Portrait of His Royal Highness Grand Duke Guillaume V of Luxembourg
On 15th January 2026, the official state portrait of His Royal Highness Grand Duke Guillaume V of Luxembourg, painted by British-Belgian artist Andrew Gow, was unveiled at the National Musée of Luxembourg and formally installed in the Plenary Hall of the Chambre des Députés on 2nd February. Commissioned by the Cour Grand-Ducale to mark the accession of the new Grand Duke, the portrait was created through a series of private sittings and close consultation with the Maison du Grand-Duc.
It now forms part of Luxembourg’s permanent civic and political record, placing a contemporary painter within a centuries old European tradition of state portraiture.
